Getting to Dr Neil's Garden from the City Centre (East end of Princes Street)

Take the A1 Waterloo Place / Regent Road / Montrose Terrace to join the A1 London Road (0.8 miles). Turn right onto Duddingston Road West. In 750 yards, pass (on the right) the junction with Old Church Lane. Continue on Duddingston Road West for a further 55 yards to the car park entrance, also on your right. Please watch out for traffic coming around the sharp bend to your left.

To reach the Duddingston Kirk Hall car park, passing the kirk on your right continue to the end of Old Church Lane. Turn sharp right, and the car park entrance is 55 yards on your right. Getting to Dr Neil's Garden from outside Edinburgh

There are a number of routes to Duddingston from outside the City of Edinburgh. We recommend the following route because it avoids the parts of town currently affected by construction of the new tram system (due to be completed by July 2011), and because it is relatively well signposted, but others routes may be shorter. If you are driving a long distance, we recommend that you check online or 'phone road condition reports before setting out, in case of road-works or other major delays.

From the South and East
Take the A720 City of Edinburgh Bypass to its East end at Old Craighall Junction. Take the 1st exit onto the A1 ramp, signposted 'Leith' and 'Edinburgh East & North'. Merge onto the A1. In 2 miles, at The Jewel roundabout, take the 2nd exit onto the Milton Link (A 199). In 460 yards, at the next roundabout, take the 1st exit onto the A1 Milton Road. In 1.25 miles, turn left onto Duddingston Road West. In 800 yards, pass (on the right) the junction with Old Church Lane. Continue on Duddingston Road West for a further 55 yards to the car park entrance, also on your right. Please watch out for traffic coming around the sharp bend to your left.

From the West and North
Again, we recommend taking the A720 City of Edinburgh Bypass. From the M9 and M8, join the A720 eastbound at Hermiston Junction, and proceed for approximately 10 miles. Then follow the directions given above from the South and East.
