Update on 11th December as part of 24 days of Advent

edinburghs-christmas-2016Unfortunately due to the wreath making in the Millar Hall aka The Garden Room this Sunday there will no teas and coffees as Duddingston Kirk Hall is being used for a function at the same time.

Access to the lower chamber of Thomson’s Tower may be limited due to scaffolding used for maintenance for next spring. The display boards will be sited upstairs, as required.

Current Maintenance

tower-and-scaffoldingAt this time of year we are carrying out some essential maintenance for the spring.

The interior of the tower has been decorated and new lights installed, both in the upper and lower chamber. However, the lower chamber is not open currently partly due to scaffolding and exhibits being removed pre decorating.

Both interior and external decorating has been completed and it is looking great.

The path from Duddingston Kirk car park is being monoblocked. If access is blocked an alterative route is by heading towards the summer house from the gate from Old Church Lane, then turning right following the hedge on your left.

24 Days of Advent 1st to 24th December

edinburghs-christmas-2016It gives us great pleasure to participate in this year’s 24 Doors of Advent. This returns from 1st to 24th December, it is free and allows you to peep behind usually closed doors throughout the city during advent!

Working with Festival of Architecture and Royal Incorporation of Architects Scotland (RIAS),  the 24 Doors of Advent opens many new doors and on December 11th our very own Thomson’s Tower is open as part of this fantastic event. We are open 13:00 to 17:00 Sunday 11th.
