Winter Talk – “The World’s Special Natural Place” 20th October19:30

We are delighted to announce that our Winter Talks will ressume on Thursday 20th October at 19:30.

Our first talk is “The World’s Special Natural Place

Based on professional visits to national parks and nature reserves in 30 countries Roger reviews the critical issues facing them such as wildlife crime, deforestation, tourism, and how to address them to ensure their perpetual protection.

There is no charge nor booking arrangement for these talks but donations towards the upkeep of the Garden on the night would be welcome. 

Monthly Winter Talks – From 20th October 19:30

We are delighted to announce that our Winter Talks will be resumed this Autumn after a hiatus of two years due to COVID. 

These will take place on the third Thursday of the month from October – March in the Millar Hall (the Garden Cafe), commencing at 19:30. 

We have a varied and interesting programme of talks over the season. 

There is no charge nor booking arrangement for these talks but donations towards the upkeep of the Garden on the night would be welcome.  Here are brief details of the programme in general:

Cabaret Evening Saturday 3rd December 19:30

Dr Neil’s Garden are proud to present a cabaret evening by The Swells, “Love, Loss & Dating“.

Following their success at this year’s Edinburgh Fringe , The Swells, three men of a certain age will tell their story of Love, Loss & Dating. 

Almost everyone has known love, lost someone they loved and been on a date, so join them on this gentle humorous journey with some beautiful, moving and fun songs from the past and more recent.

Christmas Wreath Making Workshops – Saturday 3rd and Sunday 4th December 12:00 to 16:00

We are holding our annual Christmas Wreath making workshops again this year. 

Led by our gardener, Claudia Pottier, these will take place on Saturday 3rd and Sunday 4th December from 12:00 to 16:00. 

The cost is £40 which includes all materials and refreshments and will take place in the Millar Hall (Garden cafe).

Garden Room Cafe – open from 31st March

As normal the Garden Room Cafe is now open from 31st March

The hours are

  • Thursday and Friday 10:00 to 16:00
  • Saturday and Sunday 12:00 to 16:00

We are always looking for new volunteers. A volunteer shift only requires one shift of 3 hours per fortnight.
